Thursday, April 18 (Draylin)

Today’s adventures first took us to Butlers Chocolate Factory. Where we got to go on a tour of how the chocolate is made and packaged. Then we got a tasting of some of the chocolate as we saw a short film on how Butlers was founded. Finally we got to decorate our own chocolate elephants before leaving. After that we had lunch and went to the James Joyce center to see how he lived and look at some of the things he did in his lifetime. After that some kids went to do final debate prep and some practiced for the basketball game tomorrow. Once that was finished we went back to the lecture theater for the debate. There were great points from either side but in the end Belvedere won. Though we lost it was still a fun and intense time.

After the hustle of yesterday today was definitely more relaxing. From what I know, many of us slept for a while. Today for me I went to my exchange students grandparents house. While walking we saw amazing scenery. With amazing mountains in the background. As we go I’m sure we will see more scenery like this everywhere.

Saturday/Sunday: Weekend with host families (Kip)

Saturday was a good day as we arrived around 8 am. When I first got here I got some rest then we went to downtown to go out to eat. We ate a spice bag which is just chicken fingers and fries in a bag with a bunch of spices. Then we went to a rugby game which was awesome as the atmosphere was amazing the whole time. Leinster ended up winning which is the time everyone roots for in Dublin. It was a great first day to the trip and excited to be here for two weeks!

Tuesday, April 9 (Sam)

  We had a lot of fun today inside the school, where we were able to experience a science class from one of the Belvedere science teachers, learn more about Irish culture with a movie, and some of us prepared for our upcoming debate with Belvedere students. We had some fun experiments with the science class, learned a lot about niche scientific topics, and got to show off our knowledge in the world of science! The debate group worked hard to prepare and hopefully score the BC High team a win this year, and the movie we watched, called Sing Street, was a great insight into Irish culture from a previous era!
